We Need To Talk About AI Music
Просмотров 14 тыс.2 месяца назад
AI music from Suno and Udio have gotten insanely good, good enough to pass as human made. Before you comment, let me clarify my viewpoints on this: 1. This technology is going to exist no matter what we do, we need to learn how it works and figure out how tools like this can help us as music creators. 2. Someone needs to create a system that properly compensates artists who are used in training...

Has nyone figured out who the artist is on this one?
At $3000-$4000 per 1million streams....Streaming can definitely generate more money than small brand deals if you can build a strong streaming catalog. Yes trying to do it with one song is not as pratical.
Is 300 budget the absolute minimum for yielding some reasonable results?
This is helpful thank you! 🙌
Cool content. . A helpful theoretical framework. .
Thanks for this clear guide! However, I’ve experienced when clicking on a Spotify-targeted ad, that it tries to open Spotify within the Instagram environment asking for my Spotify login and password. Which I obviously don’t know by heart. So I swipe the ad away. This seems very bad for conversion. How do you deal with that?
I know Jon at Two Story Media is just using Advantage + placements nowadays. .
I've only ever seen this ruin this type of campaigns for people, i'd avoid it. There are very specific times I use it but 99% of the time I avoid it like the plague.
@@AndrewSouthworth Yes I tried it for about a week and it wasn't working very well for me!
AWAL have just taken down an entire album of mine because a fake playlist gave me 926 streams on an old track (Which was released two years ago and is not in a current promotion campaign). I didn't ask to be on this playlist, didn't contact them, let alone pay. it just happened and now my music has been removed. AWAL won't speak to me. This surely has to be something Spotify must address, what is the point of accusing artists on a whim. Why would I engage with a playlist called Neon Lights, which does not reflect our genre. And for such little return?
Can you give your opinion on "symphony to" smart link service love to know what you think
This is a fabulous video Andrew. A lot of help for me as I just finished my first solo piano album and am looking for input on how to promote it. Thank you!
Thank you! Glad it helped!
How are you sending people directly from an ad to Spotify? I’ve never seen an option to ad a link to an IG ad
Do you ever do consultations? 20 cents per conversion sounds crazy to me. I tried doing them and I was averaging like 50 cents per conversion. Either my music sucks or I’m not setting up the ads right haha!
Yeah! I do a good amount actually. Check the links in my description to book a call.
I am blown away by this song on Udio: "Another Cigarette" by "MrTom12345" . The song could compete with the best songs of all time in my opinion.
Hi Andrew thanks for your helpful content. Greetings from Egypt ❤
Thank you for the tips Andrew you rock brother, we need more people like you.
Very good video. I have a question if you could please answer it Andrew. How would you best go about getting this track in more playlists ? What would you do if it was your track. Thank you brother. ruclips.net/video/XdPlWkZw0Is/видео.html
Grow up. RUclipsrs literally put tv shows out of a job, and they never started a witch hunt against it.
lol you clearly didn’t even watch the video.
Nice dig. The thing I have been needing the most is API / webhook integration from these platforms. Some have it now, but I don't use Zapier so that direct integration isn't useful unless I change my automation platform to Zapier.
We're working on it, will be available soon :)
@GiovanniBottan Nice. Looking forward to the developments.
I wish all platforms would support Zapier or a webhook. I’ve cancelled and switched software tools in the past for not integrating with Zapier or something equivalent like a webhook.
Thanks for this.
The music is very loud and is hard ot hear the people.
Pleas take away the background music. Annoying & distracting. Thanks.
Very helpful content. Thanks a lot for sharing. I wonder how you evaluate hypeddits AI ads versus original contents created for social media. Are those AI ads ok to use or even performing better? E.g. showing only the album cover with some of their preset fx
Andrew you are awesome, i've been searching for a while such quality to developp my fanbase with true engaged targeted fans, thanks so much!
Forever Fan is cool too!
I opened a small label for my recording studio. This channel is helping me a lot. Thanks!!!

Best Service Ive ever worked with. Everything I need in one place and lifetime pre-saves are such a game changer, the bigger the lifetime preserves list is growing the better the engagement is with new releases.
Thank you dude!
Anyone had a BAD EXPERIENCE with SubmitHub links? I believe it ruined my campaign. Here's what happened: I used SH for my landing page and I just wasn't converting enough, I had ultra high CPR (2-4€ per conversion). I had some issues with targeting and placements, so I thought it was the campaign setting's fault. I fixed that, it did lower the CPR a bit, but it was still pretty high, until I reached 0,50€ per conversion. I was getting not-so-many clicks on the landing page and even fewer clicks on the play button. Then I thought about trying toneden again, and first of all I had so many more clicks (how can a different landing page give higher CTR %??) but this happened, so I'm using toneden again and getting right away really high CTR on the landing page and lower CPR on my meta ads!
Thanks for the video dude! <3
Tried them out for a while a bit ago and they were my favorite over hypeddit but just too expensive of a subscription for where I’m at (mostly promoting playlists atm). Their UI and ad setup worked nicest imo
Glad you liked it man! I hope to have you back at some point in the future.
@@GiovanniBottan for sure! You’ve made a great product, just out of my budget atm. But would definitely love to come back when I’m ready.
That’s really interesting… wonder how “lifetime pre-saves” engage over time.
Very good question. I know Smart Noise sends out email reminders to people that pre-save and I believe they do the same with lifetime pre-saves as well. Not sure about how well they engage though. Definitely worth a case study to figure it out.
@@AndrewSouthworth Yeah, it’s a great idea. I’d throw budget at testing it out. Will send you an email.
@@AndrewSouthworth On average, 50% open rate across all artists on the platform! :)

I dont understand how you managed to select the click option as it doesnt exist for me and u didn't saved or created anything before 6:13 on the creation of custom convertion
hey andrew, what social media planner do you use? any ideas for one priced $10/mo or less? planoly is a pos
I use Later now and love it. It's more expensive though.
Hi Andrew, we have a budget of $300 as we're just starting out and testing META ads. Should we spend the budget over a few weeks (let's say 2) or a month? Does it even make a difference?
I'd say 1 month if it's your first campaign, just do $10/day and let it run for a month. If you've done this before and know what you're doing i'd consider going faster.
@@AndrewSouthworth THANK you so much for replying!. The ad has been "active" for two days, but we don't see any insights or money being spent. Is it because we're spending so little money per day? Or you think this could be due to another issue
I can only see the page visit not the click, how can I solve it
This guy needs to improve his image go to the gym and work out if he wants to make it in the music industry
I’m here teaching you stuff for free and you comment on my appearance? Maybe go tell that to Jelly Roll too.
Andrew. Love the content. A couple of questions for you, if you don't mind. What is your thoughts on running an ad campaign if you only have a very small budget, say $100-200? And secondly, How does genre effect the results, specifically for something not very mainstream such as metal? I feel there is a lot of musicians out there who spend most of there budget on recording/mixing their music, and just don't have the money to dump into a large advertising campaign.
Small budgets will still work, but you likely won't trigger any big algorithmic spikes with this type of budget. You still gain fans and stuff of course though, so still worth doing. Just be conservative with your spend, try to spend less on bad performing songs and more on better performing songs. As far as genres, most of my music is metal. Overall I feel metal actually performs better than hip-hop or R&B because of the reduced competition. I've seen this work for every genre though. In my agency we've had some killer campaigns with death metal, black metal, progressive metal, alternative metal etc. My bands are alternative metal and then I have another thats dubstep metal.
I love the honesty you transmit on your videos
Thanks 🙏
I've been using linkfire, the ads are actually split between the user and linkfire 50/50%, so the ad revenue is split, you can can also disable it completely. They also don't show the first week after the link is live.
How do you disable it? I think I spent 30 minutes trying to find this and nothing I did removed them. 🧐 Cool that they share the revenue though.
@@AndrewSouthworth Account Settings from bottom left ---> Wallet Settings ---> Enable/Disable advertising on landing page
Weird, I have this setting turned off but I still get ads on my links.
@@AndrewSouthworth Then it might just be linkfire not setting up their back end properly.. The ads thing is a relatively new thing..
Legendary. Working wonders for one of the artists
do u happen to know if cdbaby allows for meta pixel integration?
I'm not sure honestly. I know they charge per link, and it's kind of expensive considering other options out there.
Big music majors such as Sony and Warner are suing generative music AI companies Suno and Udio for copyright infringement... is it over for these companies and this technology? HOW ABSURD BUT ALSO HOW TOTALLY NAIVE THOSE WHO BELIEVE THAT SOMETHING WILL CHANGE! 😂🤣 The majors (but also the major artists) just want to join the AI money party and get a share of the related revenues-if not even (if they succeed) make this technology their own to exploit it even more widely. They will simply find a profitable economic arrangement. For as long as the world has existed, dog doesn't eat dog. 👍 The proof is that they have initiated these lawsuits only now that they see that this technology works and is also catching on commercially at the production level, whereas they could have prevented the development of this technology in the field of music from the very beginning with much more numerous and stronger lawsuits, organizing class actions everywhere and campaigning to denigrate these technologies to create a negative opinion movement among consumers, thus polarizing the opinion of the bovine people to their advantage. For us, on a practical and consumer level, nothing will change, in fact, ACTUALLY IT WILL BE WAY WORSE, how much do you want to bet? What kind of world do you live in, maybe in the world of Mini Ponies!?!! 😂
Not sure who you’re talking to here, but I filmed this prior to the current lawsuit. I think they’re going to sue the shit out of them and then find a way to use the technology in a way that benefits them. Just like how they made music streaming work for them by getting into bed with streaming companies early on. UMG is already developing their own internal AI tools in collaboration with other companies.
@@AndrewSouthworth Exactly!
Hi Andrew, I've got (maybe stupid) question. I opened my own RUclips channel years ago, but I signed up for DistroKid in order to have my music in other platforms too. The question is, would it be better to delete all the videos and upload them again via DistroKid Videos?
Running ads is pointless the return is not bad and algo traction is so guaranteed
Nothing in marketing is guaranteed. But when you have a budget and a good song you can get amazing results running ads. I’ve shown countless case studies that prove this. Just because they don’t work well for every song doesn’t mean they’re pointless. No form of marketing is ever guaranteed, and if it is it likely a scam or is not that effective.
Hey Andrew, have you ever thought about doing a video series where you go through a campaign from start to finish over a few months and explain your thinking as you make decisions, to help us better understand more of the micro decisions you make throughout the campaign?
What objective are you choosing when you start "New Campaign" for this ad?
